Welcome to the Ramadan Learning Hub: practical resources for learning, worship, reflection and family activities throughout the month. Available now are a Ramadan guide for preparing your soul, home and family; a page on Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, with the supplication the Prophet, peace be upon him, taught for it; daily supplications for the breaking of the fast, the night prayers, and the quiet hours before dawn; and a morning and evening remembrance routine that fits around a Ramadan schedule. The basics, briefly. Required: fasting each day of Ramadan, from dawn to sunset, is one of the five pillars of Islam, and obligatory for adult Muslims who are able to fast. Recommended: the night prayers, called Taraweeh, extra Qur'an recitation, and increased charity are strongly encouraged, but not obligatory in the same way as the fast itself. And individual circumstances, such as exemptions and making up fasts for illness, travel, pregnancy or nursing, are a matter of law with real detail behind them. The Fasting lessons explain the main rules and where scholars differ, but please ask a qualified scholar about your own situation. Several tools are planned but not live yet, including a day-by-day Ramadan planner, a prayer tracker, a supplication checklist, a good deeds challenge, kids' Ramadan activities, and an Eid preparation checklist. In the meantime, the Zakat section has six lessons, including Zakat al-Fitr, and the Worship page has a simple Zakat estimate.
